Community Guidelines
Our community guidelines ensure the safety and respect of BIPOC individuals and allies at our in-person and online events. These guidelines are crucial for fostering inclusivity and addressing historical and systemic inequities. All participants, including attendees, organizers, volunteers, staff, and vendors, must adhere to the following guidelines:
Please note: Unless specifically mentioned in any event promotion, ALL events will be OPEN to ALL community members, including QTBIPOC, white allies, all genders, and gender representations. Please review our mission statement and understand the space you are stepping into and the values we hold. Ceiba Arbor reserves the right to ask anyone to be removed from an event if they cross any of the below guidelines:
Discrimination: Zero tolerance for any form of discrimination or prejudice based on gender, race, disability, age, ethnicity, or skin color. This includes actions, remarks, or behaviors that marginalize, exclude, or harm individuals or groups based on their identity. NO SEXISM, NO FATPHOBIA, NO HOMOPHOBIA, NO TRANSPHOBIA, NO RACISM, NO ABLEISM, NO XENOPHOBIA, NO HATEFULNESS, NO TOUCHING WITHOUT ENTHUSIASTIC CONSENT.
Harassment: Zero tolerance for harassment, including verbal, physical, or sexual harassment of any kind. Unwanted advances, derogatory comments, gestures, threats, sexual advances, and any behavior that undermines someone's dignity or creates discomfort will NOT be tolerated.
Consent: Guests must respect personal boundaries and consent regarding physical contact, emotional boundaries, photography, and videography. Be mindful of the context and environment, such as noise levels, crowded spaces, and intoxication, which can impact an individual's ability to give or understand consent. Pay attention to non-verbal cues like body language, gestures, and facial expressions, which can also convey consent or discomfort.
Inclusivity: Be respectful of ALL bodies present. We are committed to creating a welcoming, brave, and safe space where all attendees feel accepted and valued. We encourage attendees to share their unique perspectives respectfully.
Respect: Respect all individuals at our events, including their cultural practices, traditions, histories, boundaries, and experiences. This standard applies equally to all participants.
If these guidelines are not followed, please seek out a designated Ceiba Arbor representative for support/mediation.
Failure to abide by these guidelines may result in being escorted out of the venue.
By respecting these guidelines, you are helping to cultivate the brave, inclusive, and respectful space that Ceiba Arbor strives to provide. Our mission is to build resilience and community, and your adherence to these principles ensures we all thrive together.
